PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Innovative Emergency Management, Baton Rouge, Louisiana                                                 2004-Present

Java Architect/Technical Lead for a comprehensive web-based emergency management dispersion model and decision support system (WebPuff) designed to aid in planning for, responding to, and recovering from a chemical incident implemented in Java. WebPuff is implemented with JSP, Struts, Spring, Ajax, DWR, Hibernate, JMS, XML, JNI, PostgreSQL, and C++. My role on this project is:

á       Responsible for the overall architecture of the products, creating the high level design of the features to ensure consistency in the products, and solving all technical issues.

á       Working with the customer and other team leads to define the scope of the features to ensure they meets the customers needs and are accomplishable within the contracted time.

á       Creating and managing a project plan for the software development and responsible for scheduling tasks for the developers and preparing and reporting status at the weekly customer meetings.

á       Designing and implementing a secure server-to-server communication framework using secure sockets.

á       Created a Java Native Interface framework to integrate with the C++ computational modules, which is used by the WebPuff project.

á       Porting the Microsoft Visual C++ computational model from the Windows platform to Linux and Solaris using make and GCC.

Java Architect for a Java-based emergency management Decision Support System (DSS) of tools designed to help emergency operation center teams manage the relocation and reentry of the general public after an emergency. DSS is implemented with JSP, Struts, Hibernate, JMS, XML, JNI, PostgreSQL, and C++.  My role on this project was:

á       Created and implemented the architecture and design of the DSS.

á       Designed and developed the secure, reliable, and auditable custom server to server protocol for transmitting data between installation of the DSS and WebPuff.

á       Created the JSP graphical user interface framework for the WebPuff project.

á       Designed and developed a security module for the FEMA DRS project which managed userÕs access to the functions and validated data.

 

Ship Analytics, North Stonington, Connecticut                                                                          2003-2004

Senior Java developer for a Java based emergency management suite of tools designed to help emergency operation center teams administer coordinate responses during any emergency situation ranging from an accident to a terrorist threat. The system provides a web based user-friendly intuitive interface to complex relational databases, a geographic information system (GIS), and scientifically developed fate and trajectory hazard models, while facilitating critical real-time data exchange between these components and all of its intranet and internet nodes.  My role on this project is:

á       Designing and implementing a SOAP based integration framework to prove a mechanism for collaboration with both intranet and internet installations.

á       Porting the existing windows based application to a Java based web application utilizing JSPs, Servlets, Struts and JavaScript.

á       Serving as the companyÕs technical representative to a cross company standards consortium to develop interoperability standards for the emergency management industry.

Software Architect/Team Lead for a J2EE compliant middleware framework that employs XML messaging between disparate applications via synchronous and asynchronous processing. The integration framework routes bi-directionally among a limitless number of applications such as client/server, CRM, ERP, mainframe, and more. It also offers a layer of security against intrusion, administrative tools, 99.999% guaranteed persistence for all messages, and fully audited and 21 CFR part 11 compliant. This framework is currently used to integrate PeopleSoft, a Microsoft Visual Basic based Weigh and Dispense system, and an Oracle Forms based Warehousing system. My role on this project was:

á       Creating the J2EE architecture and design of the framework which utilize JSPs, Servlets, EJBs, MDBs, and JMS running on clustered Weblogic environment.

á       Working with the customer and other systems representatives to define the project scope, requirements and schedule.

My role was to solve integration issue, support the application developers with builds, deployments, application architecture, hardware infrastructure, and application infrastructure. Work included:

á       Developing a content management application following the extreme programming methodology on the Vignette Content Suite, Netscape iPlanet, BEA Weblogic, and Jakarta Struts framework on a Solaris platform.

á       Managing system integration across organizations and existing legacy systems.

Technical Team Lead in the Calico Practice Virtual Professional Services Organization responsible for deploying e-commerce solution using CalicoÕs Market Maker framework. The end solution requires customizations and extensions to JSPs, Servlets, DHTMLs, and JavaScript. Work included:

á       Formal training on EJBs, Visual Age for Java and Websphere via IBM classes, online courses, self-study and internal training projects.

á       Serving as the technical expert for the Calico Japan office for five months in Japan. In this role I:

á       Created training material, which included sample code, Word Documents and PowerPoint presentations for the Calico Japan staff, their partners and Calico Europe office.

Graphic User Interface (GUI) engineer on the Intelligent Network Service Management System (SMS) responsible for the web based GUI. Work included:

á       Designing and developing the web based administration GUI for the SMS project. The GUI utilizes DHTML for the presentation of the data, JavaScript to add client side validation and behavior, Java Server Pages for server side rendering of the pages, Java for the GUI Data Servlet, and CORBA/Orbix Web for the communication to the SMS host.

á       Lead GUI developer for release 02 responsible for resolving all requirements, architecture, and design issues and estimating the development effort.

á       Developing a Java based form generator to produce JSP pages from Java classes and XML definitions that reduced the screen development interval by 80% and ensuring a uniform look and feel.

á       Developing a form generator to parse dynamic service forms in XML format to JSPs ensuring a uniform look and feel.

á       Promoting the new web base GUI to Senior Lucent Executives and customers through presentation, demonstration, and industry trade shows.

á       Conducting training sessions for all new GUI developers on the architecture, design, web technology, and GUI development environment, creating a training video, and conducting Java Brown Bag training sessions for the entire SMS department.
